Meet Ann Yanagihara

With almost fifteen years of experience in real estate and a law license, Ann Yanagihara brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her position as Director of Professional Development for Century 21 Accent Homes. She began her career working in corporate relocation as the Relocation Coordinator for McEnearney Associates. In this position, she helped countless executives relocate for their jobs assisting them with everything from move coordination to finding a real estate agent.
After getting her license, Ann began assisting her own clients with buying and selling their homes in DC and Virginia. She began her career being coached by esteemed real estate motivator Brian Buffinis company, Providence Systems, and soon was working entirely by referral. Recognizing her success and business acumen, McEnearney tapped her to become a mentor to new agents. As a mentor, she helped develop several highly successful agents. All the while, she maintained a productive business earning the accolade of being a Lifetime member of Northern Virginia Association of Realtors Top Producer and Lifetime Multi-Million Dollar Sales Clubs.
In 2009, Ann decided to get her law degree. She earned the privilege of attending the Catholic University Columbus School of Law and began working toward her juris doctor that same year.
Meanwhile, as the Great Recession trampled the real estate market, Ann was able to maintain a profitable real estate business all while attending law school. She earned her JD in 2012 and went on to pass the bars in Virginia and Maryland. She also attained her real estate broker license in Maryland.
Even as she prepared to embark on a legal career, Ann felt her heart was still in real estate. Ann jumped at the opportunity to help start up a small real estate brokerage Principal Broker of Hana Associates, LLC REALTORS®. She relished the opportunity to continue her mentorship of agents and to combine her vast real estate experience with her legal background to help agents effectively manage their transactions, provide unparalleled client service and help them grow their businesses to the next level.
As Ann moved into broker management, she also felt it was important to contribute back to the professionalism of her industry. She began service on the Grievance and Public Affairs Committees for the Northern Virginia Association of REALTORS and eventually was appointed to the Board of Directors.
After three years at Hana, Ann met Tom Sklopan, Principal Broker at Century 21 Accent Homes. Tom boasted over 40 years of experience in real estate as a second generation REALTOR. He had run a successful brokerage for decades and Ann knew this was the type of mentor she needed. She also knew that she could help Tom recruit, train and elevate his agents taking his brokerage to the next level. In 2017, she joined Toms team to become his Director of Professional Development.
